PM-KUSUM Solar.
Solar power for farmers and agriculture.
Explore solar irrigation pumps, solarisation of existing agricultural connections and decentralised solar generation under PM-KUSUM. Wattscore helps assess technical feasibility, understand applicable pathways and define a practical project scope.
Policy update: 22 October 2026. The Union Government has announced its intention to introduce an agrivoltaics programme in the next phase of PM-KUSUM, and a roughly ₹35,000-crore outlay has been discussed in media interviews. The next phase’s budget, guidelines, assistance rates and application windows are not yet notified. Existing PM-KUSUM components and state-level notices must be evaluated separately. Do not assume applications are open. Confirm official Rajasthan implementing-agency instructions before paying or applying.
PM-KUSUM’s next phase could bring solar power and farming closer together.
At the Agrivoltaics World Conference on 21 October 2026, the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy announced plans for an agrivoltaics programme under the next PM-KUSUM phase. In a Financial Express interview, the MNRE Secretary discussed an indicative central financial outlay of around ₹35,000 crore and closer integration of solarisation with efficient irrigation and water conservation. Neither report is a substitute for a notified scheme document.
Under consideration for the next phase; not a sanctioned allocation or an individual applicant’s subsidy.
A programme is planned to enable suitable cultivation and solar electricity generation on the same land.
Eligibility, subsidies, procurement tariffs, deadlines and Rajasthan-specific opportunities require official notifications.
What this does not mean: the proposed funding is not an approved 25% grant, PM-KUSUM 2.0 applications are not confirmed open, and existing Component A projects do not automatically qualify for agrivoltaics incentives.

Agrivoltaics: energy generation while farming continues.
Agrivoltaics, or AgriPV, places suitably designed solar arrays above or alongside crops so that agricultural production can continue. Reported concepts include elevated structures around 3.5–4 metres, but height, layout and crop compatibility must be engineered for the site, equipment and farming practices.
Consider two productive uses
Evaluate solar generation together with continued crop productivity, irrigation, equipment access and water management.
Model the extra investment
Higher structures have been reported to cost about 25–30% more than conventional ground-mounted systems. Feasibility must include civil works, O&M, farm operations and energy offtake.
Confirm the commercial route
Check land rights, crop suitability, substation access, DISCOM procurement, applicable tariffs, financing, risks and emerging government notifications.
For Rajasthan farmers, landowners and developers: a preliminary agrivoltaics feasibility study can begin before the next scheme is notified, but no investment decision should assume that a subsidy or power-purchase tariff will be available.

Understand PM-KUSUM Components A, B and C.
The programme has distinct project types. Your agricultural connection, land, irrigation needs and the relevant state scheme notice determine the correct route.
Component A
Decentralised grid-connected renewable energy plants, generally 500 kW to 2 MW under the published framework, subject to available substation capacity, procurement notices and applicable power-purchase arrangements.
Component B
Standalone solar agriculture pumps for eligible off-grid irrigation requirements. Equipment, beneficiary share and vendor selection follow current state-level implementation rules.
Component C
Solarisation of existing grid-connected agricultural pumps or agricultural feeders. The individual-pump and feeder-level routes have different implementation arrangements.
Start with the farm, connection and current notification.
- Identify the district, village, electricity DISCOM and intended PM-KUSUM component.
- For a pump, share its type, horsepower, irrigation requirement and grid-connection status.
- For a grid-connected plant, share available land, ownership or lease position, site access and any known substation details.
- Check the current Rajasthan implementing-agency notice, eligibility conditions, empanelled vendors and application pathway.
- Ask for a written scope and financial assumptions before committing to equipment or any service fee.
How Wattscore can support your project.
We can discuss the project’s technical feasibility and, where agreed, assist with preliminary project assessment, engineering, procurement planning, documentation and implementation coordination. The exact deliverables depend on the component, current state requirements and Wattscore’s written proposal.
We do not represent an enquiry as an approved government application or claim automatic empanelment, subsidy sanction, project allotment, DISCOM connectivity or a guaranteed power-purchase agreement.
A practical way to begin.
- Share your requirement. Tell us your location and whether you need a solar pump, pump solarisation or a generation project.
- Check the programme pathway. Review current official eligibility, application windows and implementing-agency directions.
- Assess feasibility. Examine pump load or land suitability, electrical arrangements, site conditions and commercial assumptions.
- Agree the scope. Define technical services, procurement responsibilities, exclusions and approval dependencies before implementation.

Questions farmers and project developers ask.
Does PM-KUSUM provide the same subsidy under all components?
No. The published programme framework distinguishes grid-connected plants, standalone solar pumps and pump or feeder solarisation. The assistance and commercial structure depend on the component and current implementation rules. Verify any quoted amount with the official implementing agency.
Can I apply directly through Wattscore?
Wattscore can discuss project suitability and a separately agreed support scope. Applications, beneficiary selection, vendor allocation and approvals must follow the official government or implementing-agency process. Avoid unofficial portals and payment requests.
Is a solar power plant on agricultural land automatically approved?
No. Eligibility depends on applicable land, capacity, grid-connectivity, power-procurement and programme requirements. Check the current notified opportunity and obtain relevant approvals before investing.
Has PM-KUSUM 2.0 with ₹35,000 crore been approved?
As of 22 October 2026, the figure has been discussed publicly as a possible outlay, but the final financing, guidelines and implementing arrangements have not been officially notified. Do not treat it as an approved subsidy package.
Is there already an agrivoltaics subsidy application for farmers in Rajasthan?
Not established by the October 2026 reports. The Centre has indicated plans for a programme under the next PM-KUSUM phase, but applicants should wait for official MNRE and Rajasthan implementing-agency notices before submitting applications or paying anyone.
